Chairing ORC`2006 in Ottawa

It was a pleasure to be a chair of Ontario regional conference` 2006. It was a great experience being an Intern in Canada and interacting with AIESEC members. I really enjoyed working with the National Committee of AIESEC Canada. It was meaningful sharing my experience, getting to know about the projects and activities AIESEC Canada had been running this year. I met people who used to be in AIESES and now work in difference business. It felt like being a part of the organization that had been developing leaders for a long time. I felt proud AIESECer, person and intern. I saw the AIESEC Canada members leading change, willing to make contributions to AIESEC, and engage in discussions aboutAIESEC experience. It was very empowering. Thank you for AIESEC Canada inviting me on board and giving me this opportunity.

Some news from Ottawa

Long time we didn't post anything about our activities here in Ottawa...

Here it comes a wrap up:

Two weeks ago: long week-end, Cintia (Brazilian intern) went to Quebec City to visit the capital of the french-side of Canada. She was supposed to meet with Chiara and a bunch of people from Toronto, but Chiara and the bunch of people from Toronto got a bit improvised-organization so they weren't able to meet with her. Sorry Cintia! (even if I'm sure you had fun anyways ;) ).

Chiara went with Lukas and some other friends from Toronto on a road Trip from Toronto (departure Friday) to Ottawa (departure Saturday) to Montreal (pick up her cousin) to Quebec City (actually St.Anne de Beaux Pres as all the hotels in Quebec City were booked). We were six in a small car (we supposed to be legal as there were 6 seat belts in the car -three in front and three in the back- but someone had to "duck" each time we saw POLICE).
- On Satuday we did a pic-nic with Christian (LC OttawaU) and Rita (hungarian intern) and many other friends in front of Parliament Hill (see the picture)... bread, prosciutto, mozzarella and knives and hour lunch was ready :)

- then we left for Quebec and we got the first experience with Canadian speed limits :( .... we got a ticket for speed on out way to Montreal (so we were 5 in the car at that time), but we were lucky...we guess they had "SPECIALS" on that week-end as the gave us a ticket for 119km/h (the limit being 100k/h) instead that for 130k/h (which was our speed).

- At 11pm we finally got to hour destination, were we previously booked two 3-beds rooms... to find out that of course they had just one room...and everything was full. At the end we squeezed three more beds in our room and as it was a mini apartment we made pasta and watched a DVD all toguether.

- Sunday: Departure from St. Anne, visit to the Sanctuarium (very famous) and to Quebec City, lunch, quick visit and then back in the car to go back to Montreal.

- Monday: Shopping and then travel back to our destinations: Ottawa for me and Toronto for the others.

Great week-end... always in a rush though :)

This Week-end... Toronto: Canada's Wonderland!

Ladies and Gentlemen!

This Week-End... Canada's Wonderland!

Interns from Toronto and Ottawa (actually from Ottawa just me) are going to the Paramount Park near Toronto! I hope it will be really nice (as it is a bit costly).
If you want to join us, just contact one of the interns in Toronto and come!

Soon more pictures about this new experience will be posted here. :)

PS. Other interns from Ottawa are going to visit and party in Montreal... just contact them if you want to join! :)

After-Canada-Day Party in Gatineau

One Mission: finish the left overs from Canada Day week-end and Bbq :)
Result: I think we almost managed to do it!

Ottawa U organized a great bbq at Claudia's house (thanks Claudia) with a swimming pool and a lot of food (cooked by our official barbecue-boy Jislen...did I spell your name correctly?) :)
Thank you guys for organizing such a nice event!

The occasion was also great to welcome our new interns Rita and Cintia (second and third from the left holding the Canadian flag on the first picture). Which helped a lot in the mission of finishing the left beer keg from Canada-Day. Thank you for your commitment girls ;)

Hoping to have another bbq soon! :)
The Swiss Intern :)

PD. A special thank to Ben (former-former-former LC Carleton President) who drove us safely back to Ottawa, Chris who invited us for the after-after-Canada-Day-Party at his place and both Chris and Rodrigo (Brazilian intern proudly working in Quebec) who returned the empty -but still heavy- keg to the beer shop.
